UK-based independent Rockhopper Exploration is in the final stage of preparation to start drilling in the North Falklandsbasin. TheUK junior believes that the acreage licensed to it may contain over 3.5bn barrels of oil (bbl). While BMI thinks this may be optimistic, interest in the Falklands basin is hotting up, with a number of other small companies preparing the way for drilling in the inhospitable region.
